2011 IABA-Chicago Law Student Public Interest Fellowship Winner
Congratulations Sarbani P. Mukherjee, Recipient of IABA-Chicago’s Law Student Public Interest Fellowship.
Sarbani has completed her first year at John Marshall Law School where she is an active member in Women’s Law Caucus, Phi Alpha Delta, Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, Public Interest Law Council and Children and Family Law Society.
Sarbani’s summer internship at the Veterans Legal Support Center (VLSC) aligns with IABA’s commitment to public interest work. the VLSC assists veterans by researching and investigating VA benefit claims. The clinic refers qualified veterans to private legal counsel through its statewide network of Pro Bono attorneys. These attorneys are committed individuals who have donated their time to assisting veterans with their claims. As a student clerk for the VLSC in the Veterans Benefits department, Sarbani will work directly with Veterans, and their family members, to obtain benefits from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
IABA is very excited to award her this fellowship and thanks everyone who expressed interest in the fellowship. IABA looks forward to awarding the 2012 fellowship recipient to be announced on May 2012.
